Tone Tiles
Bringing texture, melody and physical activity to the hallways of elderly homes
project by: August Eriksen, Amelie Dinh, Wang Xiaotong, Erlend Grimeland

Tone Tiles is both a decorative wall piece and an interactive installation encouraging physical activity for the elderly.

Tune the dial to your preferred song, and then play the melody by continuously pushing, punching, or poking the soft tiles. Play the different panels to explore different sound and light responses. Tone Tiles is an explorative experience - there are no rules to remember, and no wrong way to do it!

Tone Tiles is designed for modularity — panels can be added or taken away based on the requirements of the space. You can also choose which songs you want to have in the piece, making it customizable to you.

Tone Tiles is designed to bring colour and texture to the hallways of an elderly home, while adding interaction and music to the residents’ daily walks. It is for people of all heights and abilities, and can be used by yourself, with others, by residents and visitors.
